Last year director Laurent Tirard made a movie about the troubled, funny Nick. I havent yer seen the movie so I can’t comment if its a good adaptation of René Goscinny’s books. Quality seems to be really good, and the movie has english samples, to which I link below

Synopsis: Nicolas (Maxime Godart), eight years, is quite happy between school, his friends and his nice cool parents. But Nicolas has a lot of imagination. One day, after having overheard a conversation he thinks his mother is pregnant and that in order to make more room for their new child, his parents plan to abandon in the forest, like Tom Thumb … Tom and Nana were not yet born that stupid Petit Nicolas and his friends were already turbulent happiness toddlers. Half a century after their creation by Goscinny (for texts) and Sempé (for illustrations), the adventures of this mischievous kid always make unanimously. Filmmaker gifted, Laurent Tirard, noticed with the seductive “Lies and betrayals, and more if affinities …” and “Molière”, managed by a tour de force. His adaptation, both friendly and modern, dynamic and charming, does not in any way alters the original work. No mothballs in the recovery of these stylized ’60s with happiness. It features the same Goscinny and Sempe in these dialogues well trussed, tender and often hilarious (co-authored by Alain Chabat). The distribution is faultless. We will report the pretty fancy Sandrine Kiberlain, the craziness of Valerie Lemercier, and large dreamy eyes of young Victor Carles, who portrays a Clotar damn endearing. The film was nominated Caesar deserved 2010 Best Adapted Screenplay.
